The TIS Parents' Association Coffee Morning Natural Makeup class kickstarted with an interesting little spread of petit dejeuner and the wonderful aroma of coffee. What was the occasion? Just mums coming together for a common purpose - How to look beautiful...with the aid of natural looking makeup. For some, it was an opportunity to meet other parents and foster a closer-knit Tenby community, which is really what parents' coffee mornings are all about!

Tummies satiated, and ice-breaking out of the way, the class got off to a good start. Ms Ana Cheong is an Image and Personal Branding Coach and Consultant, and has comprehensive experience in cosmetology and fashion. Together with Ms Sharon Chew, who conducts professional makeup courses and often works in collaboration with magazines for engagements in makeovers and product launches, they shared some lighthearted banter on the do's and don'ts of natural makeup. Hands all cleaned, ladies? Now, whip out those mirrors and be prepared for an image transformation!

It is important to be aware of your skin colour tone so you can look good with the correct play of colours. Ana showed us the colour chart wheel and shared some pointers on basic colour pairings. Generally classified into two categories of colour spectrums - warm or cool skin tones, Ana asked a simple question of how our skin reacts to sun exposure to determine our skin tone. Those who tan, fall into the warm skin tone category; while those who sunburn easily (like me!) are classified under cool skin tones. With this knowledge, we can get technical and make smart decisions on the best choice of colours for eyeshadows, blushers and lipsticks. It's all about looking good, ladies...SERIOUSLY!

Many ladies came sans makeup. At the end of the session, there was a noticeable transformation indeed. Learning is an active process. We learn by doing. And what we learn with pleasure, we never forget!

PA Coffee Morning: Cyber Wellness - Mentoring the Internet Generation Online and Offline Seminar

Cyber Wellness - it's not just about internet-safety, it's about a balanced reality.

As youth are increasingly spending more time online, Persatuan Kebajikan Generasi Gemilang will address many issues both parents and students face today, such as gaming-addiction, cyber-bullying, the dangers of pornography, and how to respect and maintain one's privacy in everything from Blogs and e-mails to Facebook and other forms of social networking. Parents will be able to discuss these issues openly and address them accordingly. Nicolas Grimaldi is a French Osteopath D.O., He graduated in 2007 after a full time studies of 6 years in one of the oldest osteopathic school in France: ATMAN.

During his first 3 years of career, he was working in Monaco, he was sharing his practice between his clinic and numerous events, sport teams and associations. He was working a lot with sportsmen (Monte Carlo Ballet, some football/rugby teams, Martial art clubs, Charity events like No Finish Line, etc). Since the beginning of his studies he was very interested in Osteopathy for women and children, which led him to work closely with few associations of mothers and babies in his region, and developed a strong knowledge in this field.

In 2009 he met some Malaysian citizens that told him how Malaysia was lacking of Osteopaths and made him discover this beautiful country. He came 5 days in february 2010 and settle down in April 2010 for a great new adventure.

Since then, he has founded ONE OSTEO, an Osteopathic Clinic in Sri Hartamas which is recognised all over the country, treating thousands of patients every year. He created the FB group "THE ALTERNATIVE: Osteopathy and Gesret Method Malaysian Official Group" which is dedicated to inform and educate people about those therapies.

ONE OSTEO has worked since the begining with many actors of the social life in KL: IBU / Bonda, Fit For 2, French / English associations, Gentle Birthing Group through articles, talks, etc. As well, offering Animal Osteopathy, ONE OSTEO has been treating many horses in Bukit Kiara, 3Q, etc.

He has learned during his practice, the Gesret Method, which is the treatment developed by Mr. Gesret who discovered, 30 years ago in France, the cause and treatment of asthma, eczema, chronic lungs affections, upper respiratory allergies, etc. He is the only one in Malaysia practicing it.

The Virtues Project helps parents to awaken the qualities of character that exist in potential in their children. The language of virtues helps us to replace shaming and blaming with personal responsibility and respect.

We become mentors helping our children to become compassionate, courageous, respectful, confident and purposeful. The greatest gift we can give our children is the authentic self-esteem that comes from developing their virtues — becoming contributors rather than consumers. The world needs people willing to take personal responsibility. Let it be this generation.

Come out for what hopes to be the first of many frank, open discussions with other parents from the community. We hope this will be a fun and informative session for all.

PA Coffee Morning on Monday 23/9/13 was an opportunity for 2012/13 PA Committee members – Adrian Hare, Alwin Thian, Angeline Tan, Devan Rajam, Edmund Loo, Elizabeth Wong, Gurmeet Sivalingam, Jageep Kaur, Poh Bee Koon and Simone Singh to take a bow, and allow for fresh nominations to take place for a new committee.

There was a brief re-cap of what the team has contributed to the school's community in partnership with the school to improve upon, namely in the area of :
